In Response to Charlottesville

My friend and CrossBridger, Casey Adams, wrote this in response to Charlottesville. Words that are strong and true…
Brothers and Sisters,
Rob and I are so heart-broken by what is happening in our country and in parts of the American Christian church with the glorification of white supremacy, racism, the alt-right movement and a glorifying of this country’s slave-holding past. We ask that we would all lift our voices in prayer for the state of our individual and collective hearts. This is not a political position, this is a position of love for all of our brothers and sisters who are all made in the image of God. To those of you who are feeling the very real pain of being hated because of the color of your skin, we say to you, we stand with you against this hatred and evil that comes against you.  If it comes against you, it comes against all of us. We renounce the hatred and evil of racism, of the alt-right, and of white supremacy.  And for the rest of us, we ask you to do the same on behalf of our brothers and sisters.  Speak out unequivocally about the evils of racism and white supremacy. May we be united in this in accordance with the love, Word and Spirit of Jesus Christ.
John 13:34-35 NIV Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
