Project 10:27

Story from volunteering with Project 10:27:

In a heartwarming display of community and compassion, a spirited Lifegroup from CrossBridge Community Church's dedicated their time and efforts to brighten the lives of our senior adults. Motivated by a desire to make a tangible impact, these volunteers collected essential supplies and thoughtfully assembled goodie bags, ensuring each item would bring comfort and joy to the recipients.

Armed with care packages, the volunteers embarked on a special mission to visit our homebound seniors. Each visit was more than just a delivery; it was an opportunity to connect, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. The homes of our seniors were filled with laughter and engaging conversation, turning routine check-ins into memorable encounters. These interactions not only uplifted the spirits of our seniors but also enriched the lives of the volunteers, creating bonds that we hope will continue to strengthen over time.

We are incredibly grateful to the CrossBridge Community Church Lifegroup for their generosity and enthusiasm. Their actions exemplify the spirit of giving and community support that is at the heart of Project 10:27. The smiles they brought to so many faces will not soon be forgotten.

Project 10:27 INC is a non-profit focused on providing one-on-one Christ-centered care to people in need throughout the community.  Through the development and heavy investment in one-on-one relationships, we offer care to those who are experiencing difficult times in life such as grief, chronic or terminal illness, loneliness, and food insecurity.

We have a particular passion for engaging senior adults who are homebound or transportation challenged. We intend to make this most vulnerable group our first priority.  To effectively serve them, we prioritize the development of the relationship and are dedicated to building trust by staying in weekly contact with each beneficiary. Through telephone contact, Zoom meetings, and face-to-face encounters in their home we aim for deep conversations, we offer prayer and Bible study while investing in a meaningful friendship.

Through partnerships with area businesses and churches, we intend to meet other needs such as routinely providing food, Bibles, and personal hygiene items while seeking the ability to connect those we serve with those who are willing to help.

We need your help in the following ways:

  • Volunteers
  • Deliver food bags to seniors homes
  • Make phone calls to seniors
  • Sending cards and letters to seniors
  • Gather needed supplies such as personal hygiene items and specific food items
  • Perform basic handyman services at a Seniors home
  • Mow a lawn / Pick up leaves
  • Bookkeeping duties (2 hours per week)
  • Social Media (3 hours per week)
  • Financial supporters who will contribute $50 - $100 per month

Challenges are faced every day

Today, the average life expectancy is at a record high of 79 years. As we get older, even the most independent among us may experience physical declines or financial hardship that strips away our independence. Add to that an increase in geographic mobility of our families, and the result is millions of seniors left behind, hungry and alone.

10:27

Our nation's senior population is growing exponentially, leaving more and more Americans at risk for hunger and isolation.

While hunger and isolation can affect anyone with limited mobility and declining health, financial strain makes them much worse.
